Volunteering Opportunities

We depend on the donated time and effort of the public to help the event run smoothly and make the science fair an experience of a lifetime for the brightest NYC high school students! Help is needed reviewing applications for competition, virtual room chaperones, judges, fair day on-foot help, and more. We welcome all science enthusiasts, STEM student advocates, and other interested individuals to join us!

  • Partner your organization with us to provide community service opportunities
  • Serve as Scientific Review Committee (RSC) member to review the research projects submitted for competition to determine if the submissions adhere to all the ethical rules and guidelines for student research as determined by our fair and the International Science & Engineering Fair (ISEF).
  • Serve as a Volunteer for our in-person fair at NYU Tandon School of Engineering: Help with the setup, guiding students, judges, teachers, and more.
  • Serve as a judge for our virtual (asynched) or in-person judging sessions: visit our Judge site for more information.

We especially need help with organizing the in-person event. We may need help with set up the day before the finals round. In addition, any help on finals round hosting around 100 students their parent in person will be highly appreciated.
THE PLAN: Our virtual fair will provide a two-week window for real-time judging in child-safe virtual “rooms.” The fair will notify each student about their specific judging schedule one week before the fair begins. When all judging results have been tabulated, the Fair will host virtual Public Viewing with an opportunity for parents, teachers and other guests to see, read and hear about every project. We will also host a virtual Awards Ceremony for the public in which all honors, prizes and advancements are announced. The Fair will mail certificates and other tangibles to each student’s home address.
